Adventures in Babysitting
Today I bring you a post that doesn’t really have anything to do with food.
I know…I’m bad. I don’t always play by the rules.
I promise I won’t make it a habit around here but sometimes things just happen that you don’t plan for. Like when my friend Addie stopped by for a surprise visit. This is Addie.
You see Addie doesn’t get out much. She’s kind of a “homebody” if you will. I guess you can be that way when you work from home. We don’t really discuss her line of work in too much detail. She’s very mysterious. I’m only left to assume certain things. Things like her affiliation with the Cheerio brand. I mean, this girl KNOWS Cheerios unlike anyone I’ve ever met before. When she’s around, they’re everywhere.
Addie is pretty laid back. I think it’s why we get along so well. I don’t have to worry about what I’m going to wear. Comfort is her top priority & I’m all about that.
We have a lot of things in common. Vices for example. We’re what people like to call “phone addicts”. So what if we like to stay connected with the world? She doesn’t get offended if I’m on my phone in her company & I don’t care if she’s on hers. It’s an unspoken agreement. We’re cool like that.
I’m not going to lie to you though. Addie takes this phone addiction to a whole different level. I mean this girl literally can’t go anywhere without it.
We both value nutrition & eat a lot of vegetables. Butternut squash & macaroni & cheese? That’s such an “Addie” combination. She’s pretty creative.
Her creativity is really useful sometimes. I took her brief visit as an opportunity to bounce some ideas off her. Being the selfless person she is, we spent the majority of the afternoon working on projects.
Like recipe development
She even helped me find the perfect side dish for dinner. Three bean salad? Of course!
After all that hard work we were more than ready to unwind. We threw back a couple cocktails. Don’t judge us.
Then we passed out.
Of course the first thing she did when she woke up was get back on the phone. What did I tell you?
The rest of the afternoon we just had some good old-fashioned girl talk. We discussed all kinds of stuff. Appropriate bed times (she’s very liberal on that issue), Belle & the Beast (or Beleast as she refers to them), & of course gun control.
This is Texas what do you expect.
I was sad when it time for her to leave. I understand she’s a busy bee though. She was rambling on about having to do important things like learning Spanish & the alphabet . So we parted ways.
I don’t know the next time Addie will pop by. It’s always a surprise. That’s what makes our friendship so fun.

We all have our vices. I’m looking forward to Adelynn cooking some delicious healthy meals in the future.
Me too!
