What I Ate Wednesday #7 – Under the Sea Edition

Happy Wednesday! This week my boyfriend’s mom came in town all the way from the panhandle. We had many events going on! A new “business venture” on my end required her expertise (more on that later) & my boyfriend’s niece turned 2 (sugar cookie bars tomorrow). So, as it goes when anyone comes to visit, we consumed the majority of our meals out. It was nice to take a break from doing dishes. It was also nice to indulge in some cocktails. Like greyhounds (gin & fresh squeezed grapefruit juice) & margaritas. The flower in my margarita at The Gristmill in New Braunfels might have been one of my favorite things. Little additions like that can turn an ordinary experience into something special!
In case you didn’t know, San Antonio has some mighty fine seafood specials going on this month. Fish City Grill has DELICIOUS crawfish, in your choice of seasoning, for $7.95 a pound. They also have Prince Edward Island mussels for $9.95 a pound. In addition, Pappadeaux’s is featuring raw oysters for only $5.95 a pound! We certainly got our fill. Below are my favorite eats from the week:
This month’s WIAW theme is green! Clearly my eats were lacking in the green arena (does my margarita count?
) but that didn’t mean I completely stopped making an effort to get any greens throughout the week! At some point during each day I had my usual smoothie chock full of kale & spinach. I like to think of it as insurance. Part of maintaining a healthy lifestyle is being able to find balance regardless of the circumstances. I’m always conscious of what I put into my mouth! What is your favorite way to incorporate greens into your day?

I have never tried oysters! I really want to. I love trying new things.
They’re so good! The texture is weird at first but once you get past that they’re great.
Crawfish! My mom was torturing me by sending pictures of all the crawfish she was eating while she was in New Orleans last week. That margarita looks fabulous!
Oh man I bet the crawfish in New Orleans beats out the crawfish in Texas!
That margarita looks FABulous!
It was!
LOVE oysters & mussels. Zinc is our friend : )
